Chateau Orleans is a unique place. The restaurant is actually split up into three different segments: The dining room with the bar, patio seating, and another dining room. However, there is a definite sense of continuity that flows throughout the entire establishment.
In the main dining room with the bar there is also a small dance floor and occassionaly live music. Furniture and decorations are pretty contemporary-- I'm talking straight lines, dark colors, and schnazzy light fixtures--giving the restaurant a cool, sleek atmosphere.
Live music adds a fun, festive dimension, but it also means the main room can get pretty loud. If that's not your style, you can choose to dine in one of the two other sections and enjoy the tunes from a distance.
As you'd expect, Chateau Orleans serves up some good southern cooking.
The simple comfort foods are spot on. Plates composed mainly of beans, rice, and cornbread, accented by chicken or sausage, put together a nice combination of flavor and spice.
If you're adventrous, you can order some unusual dishes as well. Among these are plates with frog legs and aligator (which I'm told tastes like chicken).
Dishes here are pretty reasonably priced, mainly between $15 and $30. Mind you these are enormous portions.
