My favorite Coronado beach is hands down the Central Beach, which is really like a little slice of heaven.
I literally spent nearly an entire summer here the year I got my drivers license because I simply could not get enough of the place.
It's difficult to express why this beach is so wonderful because it seems that no amount of words can do it justice.
Suffice it to say that an abundance of white sand, a calm sea, blue skies, a serene atmosphere, and a brilliant sun overhead all come together to make this beach divine.

The beach itself is absolutely gorgeous--clean, spacious, inviting, peaceful. It's the perfect place for laying out a towel, breaking out a good book, and taking in the rays.
For me, it is the place to go if a day of rest and relaxation is needed. A more ideal environment is certainly difficult to find around San Diego, and I would know.
That's Me Enjoying Some R & R
Given the enormity of the beach and the calmer crowd Coronado attracts, self-made serenity is always available here. All there is for you to do is stake out your slot of paradise.
By virtue of its cleanliness and tranquil beach-goers, Coronado is also a great place for kids. If you have children (or younger siblings), this is a place where they have plenty of room to run around and the ocean is mild enough not to be intimidating.
There are fire pits on the north end of the beach too, so when night rolls around you can grab one with some friends, make some smores, see the Hotel del all lit up, and enjoy the sea.
It may be hard to believe me when I praise Coronado so highly, but it really is just the truth. If you'd like a little perspective from another source, you can visit a page on this beach and the Hotel del at West-Coast-Beach-Vacations.com, whose owner has visited the area.
The waves are generally pretty small, so this isn't a place for surfers, but it is well-suited for young boogie boarders.
This was my beach of choice for taking my brothers when they were small. The waves are small enough that they weren't afraid and I didn't worry, but just big enough for the little guys to feel like they were riding some gnarly surf.
They're older now, but they still love this beach and "remember when" conversations often sprout up around their fond memories here.
Two Little Girls Splashing Along
The calmness of the sea also makes for a good time just splashing around or floating lazily.
More often than not there are also sailboats out on the water. I'm not a sailor, but if I were to go sailing I don't think I could find a more gorgeous sea.
If larger waves are what you seek though, this is not your beach. Heading south to another great Coronado beach, Silver Strand, will get you those larger waves.
Hotel Del Coronado On The Beach
This calm Coronado beach begins in front of the Hotel del Coronado and continues north, right across the street from some of the most beautiful homes I've ever seen (my friends and I all have houses in the area we claim will be our future residences after we become millionaires).
As an added bonus, you can easily walk from the beach to Orange Avenue (which is essentially Coronado's main drag) to grab a bite to eat or do some shopping to add to your beach trip if you so please.
Over the summers spent here, my friends and I have accumulated a medley of favorite restaurants around my favorite Coronado beach simply by walking down Orange Avenue and popping in wherever looked appealing.
Some of our favorites are McP's, Island Pasta, the Beach-N-Diner, and a hidden gem of a gyro place.
