The Feel

Visitors be forewarned, this is not your typical restaurant. The place is almost grungy, and that's the way they like it. This hole- in-the-wall appeal seems to work quite well since Hodad's always seems to be in high demand.

But if you're willing to withstand the wait, you will dine surrounded by walls completely hidden underneath license plates, many with clever messages, most of which are also crude, to entertain you during your meal.

The Food

Burgers are Hodad's specialty, as advertised by the outside of the restaurant which displays the words "Over a Gazillion Burgers Sold!" But if you're not big on burgers there are other options for you too.

Now time for my bias. The shakes are my favorite part of Hodad's, and I think any shake-lover would be completely satisfied here. They're extremely flavorful and creamy, to the point of shake perfection. After a hot day spent at the beach, nothing tastes quite as good as a cold milkshake.

To be completely frank, Hodad's is not a place for everybody, but you're looking around for Ocean Beach restaurants and it sounds like your style, it won't disappoint.
