Mission Bay Beach is a bit of a misnomer, since there is really no one beach but rather stretches of sand that surround the Bay. Nevertheless, Mission Bay is one of the most popular Mission Beach attractions, unique with the bay, boardwalk, and the Mission Bay Aquatic Center.
There are multiple stretches of sand on the water for those who want to hang out bayside, an expanse of waterside territory to take advantage of due to the enormity of Mission Bay.
In addition to the sand, there are also large grass areas around the bay, making it a great destination for games, picnics, and barbeques.
The shores around the bay are decent for spending some time, but they really aren't where the action is. Personally, I think it's more fun to hit up the shores of Mission Beach than those of Mission Bay Beach.

There can be quite a bit of activity on Mission Bay.
Mission Bay is a popular boating spot for motor and sail boats alike. Naturally, water sports, such as wakeboarding, skiing, and tubing, accompany these water crafts as well.
For those who are interested in trying out a water activity but lack the equipment, the Mission Bay Aquatic Center has you covered. Lessons, classes, and camps are available for sailing, surfing, kayaking, wakeboarding, windsurfing, and waterskiing. The Aquatic Center also offers rentals, including boats, kayaks, skis, boards, lifejackets, and more.
Literally around the bay, there is a bike path that encircles it that can be used for cycling, jogging, roller blading, and more.
The park areas around the bay make it a great picnic spot, but if you're planning on going out to eat you need to head toward Mission Beach.
