Quirky, laid-back, and semi-Bohemian, San Diego's Ocean Beach offers a completely different environment than all other San Diego beaches.
The diverse crowd it draws plus the artistic community that is O.B. make it a guaranteed place of interest.

Ocean Beach is enormous and there is usually quite a bit of activity on the sand, from games of frisbee to games of football.
Several beach vollleyball courts are located on the north end of the beach as well, and they are generally put to good use.
Fire pits are also available for after nightfall.

The Ocean Beach Pier is another attraction. It stretches quite a way over the ocean and includes a small restaurant about half way down its length. The view from the pier is stunning, it's a great addition to your beach trip on clear days.
The boardwalk that runs along the beach is always a busy place, including joggers, roller bladers, and street preformers.
The surf can get pretty intense here, not necessarily good for beginners, but pretty well-liked among experienced surfers.
Note: The water at Ocean Beach is generally less clean than the other San Diego beaches, so if that bothers you steer clear.
The area around the beach is interesting to say the least.
If you stroll down Newport Avenue, O.B.'s main drag, you'll find restauants, pubs, tatoo parlors, boutiques, antique shops, and more.
There's also the fantastictide pools of Ocean Beach California to be visited just south of the pier. These are my favorite tide pools in all of San Diego due to the variety of sea life for the viewing and the intersting etchings in the stone.
