There are two nude beaches within the San Diego County: Blacks Beach and San Onofre.

San Onofre is found just outside Camp Pendleton and is the closest nude beach for those living in Los Angeles and Orange County. It is less well frequented than Blacks Beach, but still draws several thousands of peoples every year. On a sunny summer day you can expect to find hundreds of nudists basking in the sun or going for a swim at San Onofre. During off season the beach is much more private with fewer visitors.

San Onofre is considered a very nice and safe beach for everyone. Sex is not allowed and the police are very attentive. One of the downsides to San Onofre is that the peace is sometimes disturbed by noisy helicopters. There are usually more men than women at the beach. Popular beach activities are of course nude swimming and sunbathing, but also volleyball, Frisbee, paddleball, beachcombing, walking, jogging and yoga.

San Onofre offers basic beach facilities; at each trailhead at the top of the bluffs you will find toilets, showers and outdoor sinks. There are drink machines at the beach, but if you wish to buy something besides drinks you will have to go to a store in San Clemente, about 5 miles away. If you bring your own food you can prepare it at the beach, there are campsites with fire rings are available.

Blacks Beach is the most popular nude beach in the U.S. and is located at La Jolla in San Diego County. During the summer it is sometimes visited by more than 10,000 people. The majority of the visitors are men, but there are a lot of women as well. The most northern end of the nude beach is especially popular among gay men.

Be aware that nudity is not practised at the whole beach, just in the state-owned part inside the state park. Nudity is prohibited at the south end of the beach, since it is city-owned. There are usually plenty of boundary signs, so the risks of you involuntary strolling into the wrong part of the beach is pretty slim as long as you keep an eye Well, I guess the sudden lack of nude people could be a give away too.

You reach Blacks Beach by taking the I-5 exit westbound Genessee Avenue and drive west 0.8 miles to North Torrey Pines Rd where you take left again. Continue 0.2 miles to Torrey Pines Scenic Road, turn right and drive until you reach Torrey Pines Gliderport.

Blacks Beach is two miles long and up to 60 feet wide (depending on the tide). It is beautifully located below 300-foot high sandstone cliffs and the sand, a blend of black and white, is clean and free from debris. Popular beach activities are swimming, sunbathing, snorkelling, surfing, boogie boarding and jogging. A lot of people bring their own nets and play volleyball, but there are no public nets. Tide pooling is popular near Mussel Rock.

Another great place for nude beaches is Hawaii. Hawaii beaches have some of the best nude spots around and the weather is ususally warm to soak up all the sun.
