San Diego Tide Pools:
Ocean Beach

Ocean Beach is your destination if you want the best San Diego tide pools. They span for nearly a half mile south of the Ocean Beach Pier, providing an expanse of territory and sea life to explore.

Ocean Beach Tide Pools

The Ocean Beach tide pools give visitors a glimpse of undersea life with a display of urchins, anenemies, crabs, and small fish.

On top of the exhibit of aquatic creatures there is quite an exhibit of carving into the stone on which the tide pools lay. These can be pretty fun to scope out, just to see what others have left behind (Recently I discovered a marriage proposal etched here).

Ocean Beach nook

Continuing south of the tide pools will bring you to several slots of beach in between the rock, which generally aren't as populated as the main beach north of the pier.

These little nooks are gorgeous, definitely worth the walk to get there.

P.S--If you're looking for more San Diego tide pools, you can always head to north to La Jolla as well.
