On the Sand

There is plenty of beach at South Mission Beach for whatever you plan to do, but there are a couple features that set this beach apart.

One of these features is the volleyball courts. All you need is a ball and a group to play with to be set up for some fun. The nets are already up and usually there are at least a few courts open.

Last summer I played quite a few games of beach volleyball at South Mission, and it's always a blast. It's awesome when you can just round up a group, snag a court, and have at it.

I'm not a volleyball player, and neither are the majority of my friends, but that has no impact on the amount of fun we have.

Point being, if you want to try out playing, just go for it and you'll probably be glad you did.

South Mission also has basketball courts, but those are usually pretty busy. But that can be expected, there can't be many better places to play than in that beautiful seaside setting.

Other than that, it's a gorgeous beach and a nice place to be, so if you're in the mood for kicking it on the sand you're covered.

There are also fire pits available for some fun after nightfall.

In the Surf

Generally there are quite a few people in the water here, swimming, surfing, and more.

Around South Mission Beach

There isn't too much around here as far as dining and shopping go. The best bet for those options is to head back towards Mission Beach.

However if you're looking for some place to hang out in a park setting, there is a park across the street from South Mission. It's further away from the hustle and bustle by Belmont Park, making it a quieter option.
